Generations Together / Our programs01 / Hug in a Mug

A community gift project

A mug.
A message.
A little warmth.

Give a mug a second life and brighten someone's day. With Interfaith Community Services (ICS), our volunteers collect mugs, handwritten notes, and small comforts to create thoughtful gifts for older adults receiving Mobile Meals.

The idea is simple

One small gift.
A lot of care.

01 A mug with character
02 A handwritten note
03 A few cozy comforts

What to contributeHug in a Mug / 02

Start with something you have

What's inside
a hug?

No identical mugs or expensive shopping lists required. Reuse a clean mug from home, add a handwritten note and a few small comforts, and help make someone's day warmer.

Examples of donated mugs. These are not completed gift kits.

01

A mug.

Clean, gently used or new; no chips or cracks. Fun colors or patterns are welcome.

02

A message.

A kind, handwritten Thanksgiving or encouragement note. Keep it warm and nonreligious.

03

A little comfort.

Tea, cocoa or another small, approved treat or useful item. Simple is enough.

What else
can you donate?

Two ways
to give.

Whether you can spare one mug or put together several gifts, there's an easy way to help.

01At home / flexible

Create a Hug in a Mug.

Choose a clean, undamaged mug or tumbler. Add a handwritten, nonreligious note and a few small comforts from our donation guide. Deliver it to GT so our team can review and individually wrap it for ICS.

One mug or several. Your choice.
02Supplies / collection

Donate mugs or supplies.

Don't have time to assemble a gift? Contribute spare mugs, new socks, tea, cocoa, note cards, or other accepted materials. Our volunteers will use them to prepare additional gifts.

Every contribution helps us build more gifts.

Assembly gatherings.

Interested in helping us pack and prepare gifts? Group assembly opportunities will be announced when scheduled. You can prepare gifts or donate supplies independently in the meantime.
